It’s Not Crazy But…

Daily writing prompt
Come up with a crazy business idea.

Probably four to five years ago, I had the idea of launching a radio station where the main focus on it was video game music. This station would play music from games back from the original Nintendo Entertainment System to the latest Xbox or PlayStation that are out now. Maybe have certain days or timeframes that would focus music from different platforms (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo) or different genres (action, role-playing, etc.) to keep it fresh and interesting for listeners.

I went a little further and wanted to include talk shows into the mix, give a break from only playing music on the station. Reach out to big or small podcasts out there and have them on to discuss with each other to give updates on news that is happening at the time, and there’s a lot that can be covered. I remember picturing if this would really happen, we would have the hosts meet up where the station is located, have them in their own booths and from there, they would continue on with the show list we have planned.

To go even further with this idea, I was thinking of how this could make its way over to satellite radio on Sirius XM, or main radio applications that people can listen anywhere on whatever mobile device they had. Give everyone the ability to listen to it either on their commute or just around the house. Adding the option to have it almost everywhere and making it accessible to everyone is a key factor that I would strive for with it all.

When I initially came up with this whole thing, I don’t believe there were any radio stations like this out there. Before writing my answer here, I checked and found a few online websites that are streaming music like this, but I think it’s only doing that, no talk shows in between music. It’s still a great idea in my mind, I however, haven’t been really into video games as I used to be over the years. So, I hand this off to anyone who would like to give it a go!
