There’s not much that I do for fun. I can fill the list of five things, but compared to other answers probably, mine is a little more boring to read about. It’s fun for me, so that’s all that matters, I guess!
Writing:
For over a year now, I have been writing as a hobby almost daily. I’m not there yet where I would go to a public spot with my laptop, or journal to write. I only write when I’m at home, or at a hotel if we’re spending the night there. I enjoy the process of brainstorming ideas on what to write for my stories and the therapy it has been giving me after I write down a few hundred words, especially if it’s stuff I’m really proud of once I’m done. The fun is just beginning on my writing journey, and I can’t wait to explore more on it!

Reading:
When I started writing, I was also reading a lot more in my free time too. I read a lot of books last year, more than I have read ever in my life now that I think about it. There’s something about it, when you find a good book (or a lot in my case), you can get really invested in wanting to know more what happens in the story. That was the beauty of it that made me love reading again.
Now, I always stop at a bookstore if there’s one nearby us when we’re out, and most of the time, I walk out with a book at least. Here are some of the books that I picked up over the last few months. There are a lot more pictures I have of my book hauls over the year, but four pictures of them is enough!

Video games:
I had spent a lot of my time playing video games for most of my life. From six-year-old me, to a few years ago, this was one of my favorite things, and at some point, only thing I did for fun. While I don’t really play much of it anymore, I do like to occasionally sit down on the couch, turn on my Xbox or Nintendo Switch, and go get lost in that world for an hour or more.
Below are a few games that I am currently playing at the moment.

Walking/Running:
When the weather is nice, that’s usually when my fiancé and I would take our dog Chance for a walk on the trail behind our place. It’s a good exercise that we all get during this walk, and a great time for us to just talk and catch up on things. Usually, it’s us gossiping about something going on with my family at that moment (usually is). When my fiancé can’t come, and it’s just Chance and I, I’ll put on either music, audiobook, or a podcast to listen to when we’re out there. Our average time walking on the trail is about forty-five minutes to an hour, so I can finish a lot of time with a book or podcast out there.

One of the things we do when we take Chance out is to time how fast we can hit a mile on the walk. We have a goal of hitting less than twenty minutes for our mile but haven’t gotten there yet though! He stops too much to mark his spot!

Running, however, is something I like to do for exercise, but… I have been slacking really bad on it. Right before the pandemic hit, I started running to get ready for a 5k race my friend invited me to. When we had to stay inside and they canceled the race, my running did not stop. However, I would go for runs in short periods throughout the year, and I never stayed consistent in keeping up with my running. This year, I would like to go out and run again. Even if it’s not for a race that I signed up for, running for the fun of it (weird I know) is great!
Going out:
Thankfully, my fiancé does not really read my blogs, or else she would tell everyone right away that I would rather stay home. That is true, BUT I do like to go out to visit stores and see events! It’s just… I would rather not do it so frequently is all. I like my weekends home to recuperate and mentally recharge, so sue me!
When I do go out of my house, I really just want to go to bookstores, find places to eat, or go see a movie. I do want to make more stops at museums or seasonal events around our area, but we do visit our families a lot up north over the weekends, which happens to be when they host those. Maybe more when the weather gets nicer, we will.
It’s not much, but I do go up to visit my friends and catch up with them every now and then. Most of those times seeing them, we tend to check out a local area, or hang out at one of their houses. It’s not my house, so my fiancé can’t complain there!
Like I said — not really much excitement in what I do for fun, but I enjoy it regardless!
