Not much has happened since my previous update — and that’s fine with me. I do enjoy dull periods in my life because that’s when I’ll take that time to relax and play catch-up on some things, maybe even nap!
Yes, the Title is Right
On Friday, Yessica went out to get some groceries; during that time, she also picked up a sketchbook with pencils for me to start drawing. We were out together the weekend before and went into the art section at the store. I mentioned how I wanted to get a sketchbook and some pencils for drawing leisurely. I didn’t buy them at that time. So she grabbed them this Friday for me.

You’re now looking at a very amateur artist at hand here. I haven’t drawn anything in fifteen to twenty years now; it has been that long. I’ve always enjoyed drawing, even though I’m not good at it. It’s another form of art that can be therapeutic for me, another way to release whatever’s bothering me onto paper and let it out.

Don’t worry — you won’t hurt my feelings if you think my drawings stink. That’s not the point of my drawings now. Sure, I would love to get better at it, and maybe one day, I’ll watch tutorial videos to improve. But for now, I’m just doodling as I go.
New Show I’m Watching
Friday night — I decided to sit down and put a show on to start watching. I’ve been seeing a lot of advertisements on Masters of the Air that just came out on Apple TV+. And since it just started, I was able to catch up on the first two episodes that are available now.

The show is starting well; you get into the action early on in the first episode as you follow the 100th Bomb Group and the role they played during World War 2. One thing for me is I tend to get lost on who’s who during some scenes. Because they’re wearing flight gear in most scenes and calling nicknames or last names during the chaotic portions of the show. That has taken a bit for me to pick up on people’s names on shows; I’m betting by episode three next Friday — I’ll have a good grasp on most of the characters then.
Sorry Bloganuary…I Can’t Wait Till February
I’m determined to finish Bloganuary by writing a blog post once a day and answering all the prompts they provide. But I can’t wait until February when the obligation to participate is over. You probably would say, “Well, stop if it’s bothering you so much,” to which I agree, but at this point, I’m already at the finish line, so why stop now? Plus, it’s been fun answering some of the questions I never would have answered. Give my brain an exercise to think and get creative.
Once it’s over, I’ll be posting here less frequently and focus more on stories, poems, and ramblings instead.
Final Thoughts
For any writers who have had their work published in anthologies or magazines, could you share some advice about your writing journey?
In the next few days, I plan on submitting my first piece to a contest that’s currently running, and I’m nervous about doing this. I know rejection is common, and authors I know have shared their rejection stories — but I’m mostly worried about if they accept it. Talk about imposter syndrome there if they did.
Until then.

Brad
