When I was younger, I never cared to watch any professional sports on TV. I was more of the kid you found outside playing in an organized league or with some friends somewhere. Now that I’m older and don’t play anymore — I watch it on TV whenever I get the chance that is. Below are a few that I’ll watch when they’re on.
American football is the only sport that I watch but have never played. I had opportunities to join the football team at my school, but I felt that I would embarrass myself because I had no strength as a teenager. So now, I watch it live on TV and will be watching the Kansas City Chiefs playing against the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.
Now for the other kind of fútbol(soccer), I played from when I was six — till I graduated high school. The only time I watch it is when the World Cup is on. Occasionally, I’ll watch the leagues currently on, but only when I see them on and need something to watch.
Lastly, it’s volleyball. I started playing volleyball during my sophomore year in high school and continued until my junior year in college. When it’s on, I will always turn on the channel to watch any volleyball match, whether it’s college or during the Olympics. That’s only when I get the chance to watch it. I could subscribe to ESPN+ and get it instantly, but I don’t need another streaming subscription now.
For the longest time, I had the mindset that I would rather play the sport than watch it, and that changed once I got older. When I stopped playing sports altogether, I eventually started to enjoy watching it on TV, even some that I wouldn’t even know where I could play when I was younger. One thing that hasn’t changed for me is not letting how the game ends affect my mood. I’ve seen too many people have the rest of their day or the next completely ruined over something like that.
