Drinking or Arguing

Daily writing prompt
What were your parents doing at your age?

For as long as I can remember, my parents spent most of their time drinking or getting into screaming matches with each other. At my age, I was only four years old at that time, so I don’t remember much. But from late-night talks with my brother about our parents back then, it’s safe to say that they were still the same with drinking or arguing. This has carried on for many years onward.

They’re no longer together. They’ve been separated for over eight years, and my mom has been doing a lot better for herself after that. Can’t say the same for my dad though; I haven’t talked to him in a few years. It was his decision though, to cut communication with his kids.

My parents played a big part in why I don’t drink anymore. I’ve seen the toxic relationship that came out of it all, so I’m good there.
