Do you remember life before the internet?
I don’t, because I was born in August 1991, and looking at a brief history of the Internet closest to when I was born, the World Wide Web (www) was created in 1989-1990.
Did I grow up using the Internet as a kid? That’s a different story.
For the first ten years of my life, the Internet was never a word used in the household. Early on as a kid, I believe my parents struggled with money (that’s another story), and I think to them, having a computer connected to the Internet was more of a luxury than a necessity. I didn’t know what I was missing; I just filled that void outside by riding my bike or playing soccer. It wasn’t until I was a teenager that I began using the Internet daily.
Some days, I wish that I was back in those times, when I wasn’t dependent on the Internet—just for a little bit. It was peaceful; I was outside a lot more and not thinking about what I saw earlier that day from some social media post.
