What Could I Do Differently?

Daily writing prompt
What could you do differently?

Probably a lot of things if I’m being honest. But I also know that those decisions I have made are what got me to where I am today. They were all learning scenarios in my life, a path it made for me where I try to be a better me the further I go down it.

To give an answer on today’s prompt, I would have changed the way I went about my start to writing again. Write more fiction earlier on and not just put down ramblings onto my journal only. I felt very self-conscious about my writing when I started and did not dare try to write any type of fiction until I felt “confident” that I could. I only journaled for the time to gain some confidence in my writing and breakaway of the self-doubt that I had. Something I should have done was give fictional writing a try when I started and not just journal all the time.

I love journaling, don’t get me wrong. I still sit down every day to write down my thoughts on it for about half an hour, usually a page a day. Journaling alone was what brought me out of the self-doubt in my writing, and I will always love it for that. I just wanted to include fictional writing with either in my journaling or made some more time to write it when I wasn’t. Because if I’m fine with writing out here onto my blog and sharing it with others, I could’ve been doing this a lot sooner is all.

My two leather journals.
My daily journal on the left, and my story journal on the right.

  1. The only thing that I would do differently is to partake in the WordPress Bloganuary to try and attract new people to my blog as not many come to visit it as I want to make people feel interested in what I write about

    1. Pretty much why I started up Bloganuary. That, and to keep up with my writing and give myself a goal for this month.

      1. I see… I started my blog since March 2022 and I’ve noticed between the last two hours that my blog has started to get a lot of attention since I wrote two posts for Bloganuary. Looks like people are interested in my website after all 🙂

  3. Reflecting on your writing journey is insightful. Embracing fiction earlier shows growth. How did overcoming self-doubt impact your creative process?

    1. When I started to remove the negative feedback that was in my mind and love my writing more, I begun taking chances with my creative imagination and started writing the ideas that I had. The more I pushed that doubt away, the more I felt myself wanting to write more fiction to practice my writing.
