It’s been a while since I sat down here and wrote something for my blog site. The NFL season has begun, and my now wife’s Fantasy Football team, BYC Connections, is live. I’m reminded of how I have been lacking in writing anything here. Sorry about that…
I would love to sit down and focus more on here, but I will honestly say that all my time writing is towards my journals and fictional storytelling. That and I haven’t had as much free time as I wanted.
Now Married!
On August 16th, 2024, Yessica and I had taken our way too long engagement and finally tied the knot together. It wasn’t a big wedding; in fact–we didn’t have a wedding at all. We decided to go to our local city hall and had our wedding ceremony done by the town’s mayor. It was quick, cheap, and we got to do what we’ve wanted for years.
Sure, it wasn’t the exact way we wanted back when we started planning a wedding. But it was all the same; I got to marry my best friend.

Fastest 5k and Longest Run So Far
A few achievements that I have been able to accomplish in my running since my latest post.
The Wednesday after Yessica and I were officially married (August 21st), I participated in a 5k race near me. It was a charity race, so a group of people got together, myself included, and ran a 5k (about 3.1 miles). So far, it’s my fastest 5k time.

I was really feeling the burn throughout the race, but it felt great once I crossed the finish line. Having people running with me to set my pace or try to pass really helped me get through my fastest time. Maybe the next race will be when I break my fastest time again.

Said Goodbye to A Very Good Dog
On September 7th, Yessica and I left to visit my family to celebrate our marriage with lunch and some good company. Earlier that morning, we were told that my brother’s dog, Deesal, wasn’t doing well. And it was said in a tone that her time was coming up soon. For a Labrador at the age of thirteen, she lived a great life, so it hit hard for us to know that it was bound to happen soon.
Saying goodbye to her that day while she was lying on the floor, too tired to lift her head, was hard for me to bear.

Two days later, we got the message from my brother that she was gone and that she would finally rest. She lived a great life, and I’ll miss that dog dearly.
I still remember those summer days when my brother and sister-in-law weren’t home and would ask me to go over to their house and watch her when she was just a pup. She was always excited to see me throughout the years, and I think it was because of the time I was with her when she was a puppy.
What’s Next?
I don’t know if I’m being honest… As much as I enjoy posting here whenever I do it, my commitment to my blog has been pretty low. While I can promise more to come along the way, I get myself wrapped up in other writing ideas that tend to be forgotten.
If I could set a schedule for every two weeks or a month, that would be ideal. Because I would find that commitment and finally take accountability for this site.
But until then…

Brad
